A Human Right lawyer
in Kogi State has sued a commissioner of police, Kogi State Police command for
the Sum of N100,000,000,000.00 as a compensation for his illegal arrest and
detention for 13days.

gathered that Barr. A.U. Ismail has gone to the state High Court2, in Lokoja
for the Enforcement of his Fundamental Rights after the police from the Kogi
State capital, Lokoja invaded the resident of the Barrister on the 25th May.
2017 at about 5:00PM.
It was also gathered
that the heavily armed policemen practically dragged the Human Right lawyer
from his resident at Inoziomi New Layout in Adavi LGA of Kogi State over a
petition allegedly written by one of the Administrators of the Local
Governments in Kogi State.
That the said Human
Right Lawyer cum politician was said to have vying for the position of Local
Government Chairman in one of the Local Government in Kogi State.
The Sole
Administrator which was later known to be Okehi LGA of Kogi State was alleged
to have petitioned the said lawyer to the commissioner of police and slammed
offences ranging from attempted culpable homicide, being in possession of fire
arm and kidnapping.
Further
investigation by the police command revealed that the allegations against the
said lawyer were baseless, unfounded and made in bad faith.
The only 'SIN' he has committed is to indicate interest in the
Chairmanship race of Okehi LGA of Kogi State.

luminary, who has practiced his legal profession, to the admiration of all the
good people of the state and beyond. In recognition of his good work in the
service of humanity, he has been honoured with series of awards, the last being
the PSR, DINMA National awards 2015, in recognition of his accomplishments in
Law & Legal Services in Nigeria, held at Sheraton Hotels & Towers,
Abuja.
Barr. Ochavara, a vibrant legal icon, a prolific writer, social
justice crusader and Human Rights Activist, is loveable and a quintessential
man of the people who has never had any criminal blemishes.
On the 25th of May, 2017 at about 5 pm, a team of 'Crack Team'
of the Nigerian Police Force, from Lokoja, invaded his Inoziomi Layout
residence, in a Commando-like manner, practically dragged him to their vehicle,
like a common criminal, on the Orders of the Powers that Be. This is the sorry
state which Okehi Dirty Politics has brought us.
The people's Barrister, has since been held in Police detention
until few days back when the police decided to allow him breath the air of
freedom, after they were served a Court Summons in an Enforcement of
Fundamental Human Rights Suit filed by the NBA, Okene/Lokoja branch on his
behalf.
My question and fear is that, if a Lawyer of Ismail Ochavara's
status can be humiliated and dehumanised in this manner, over fictitious
allegations, that can NEVER be proven in any Court of Law, what happen to the
common man in our Society?
I think it is high time somebody put this naked abuse of power
to a stop before it takes us all, back to the Hobbesian society, where anarchy
is the order of the day
